Shailesh Ghimire a.k.a. Social Media Wiz

I am the Director of Interactive Marketing at AIR Marketing, a marketing agency in Phoenix, Arizona. I started with AIR in 2008. Prior to AIR I worked with my wife Aimee at CTX Mortgage. My primary responsibility was Marketing and Sales through Internet Marketing. In this capacity I utilized blogs, social networking and various other outlets to generate quality leads with high conversion rates!

Social Media Wiz was born out of my desire to share some personal ideas and thoughts on the emerging media that is oftentimes referred to as Social Media. As a Internet and Web enthusiast it has been fascinating to witness the rise of Web 2.0 from the ashes of the dot come bubble. And just thinking of where we are today, considering where we were yesterday and looking ahead and where we will be tomorrow fills me with awe. See, my relationship to the Internet goes all the way back to early 1994. It truly was “love at first click” even on the archaic Mosaic browser! So, the future of the Internet truly excites me.

My goal with this blog is to address the issues facing businesses as they attempt to embrace social media and other Web 2.0 technologies. There is a lot of fear out there when it comes to blogs, user generated content, photo and video sharing etc. I bleieve these fears are misplaced for the most part becaues of the lack of understanding. As a veteran mortage blogger I can attest to the fact the social media can be used to establish a brand, generate leads and ultimately increase the bottom line for any business in any industry. (Well maybe not all industries, I just can’t imagine a defense contractor using social media to sell F-16 fighter jets to Saudi Arabia, so for that reason lets just say “most” industries.)
